Public Relations Llama

Many of us take llamas into elementary schools to teach the children about llamas. They are so well mannered that they will rarely bump into anything; and they will always ask when it's time to go outside!

It is a wonderful experience to take them into nursing homes. Often those dear people have had beloved pets, and they just perk right up when the llamas walk into their rooms!

The llamas are so sensitive and seem to know that these people can't always reach up to them, so they'll bend down. They seem to move even more quietly in that setting.

Christmas--Jim and Marilynn with El Sol de Rafael at a Christmas parade. Sol loves to go places and visit with people. He's actually "on" and thinks they've all come to see him, posing for pictures and generally holding up the parade!

Llamas are used in so many different ways. A recent article in "Psychology Today" wrote about the uses of llamas as having a calming effect. We can speak personally of that. During a particularly stressful time, it brings peace to the heart to go sit with the llamas. I've actually fallen asleep in the barn on a warm summer day, to awake with a llama's head resting on my arm--she was asleep, too!

Here's Sol, holding up the parade again! That Boy Scout troop thought they should march right up his back side, while El Sol de Rafael thought he should "pose" for the public.
