One of the requirements of the Canadian protocol is an inspection of our Quarantine facility prior to the beginning of each Isolation period. We have worked with the USDA office for many years and have a great working relationship. The protocol is set by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and we are careful to abide by their rules. The primary requirement is the separation of Quarantine animals from our llama herd by a distance of 30 feet. We are happy to provide the importer with a list of the requirements we must meet.
Our ranch has been designed with the Isolation requirements in mind. Each pasture has ample shelter to protect from the winds and rain. In Northwest Washington, we rarely experience severe cold and/or snow - but if we do, the shelters are snug. Orchard grass hay is provided free choice, as is a mineral supplement. We utilize Stillwater minerals.
